Applied Researcher in Robotics – Perception & AI

Job Description

Pickle Robot is seeking a dynamic and driven Applied Researcher in Robotics – Perception & AI to revolutionize the future of warehouse automation. In this role, you will design and develop advanced algorithms enabling robots to navigate complex environments with precision.

Responsibilities:

• Invent novel technologies to solve real-world problems in robotic warehouse operations, including loading and unloading trucks.

• Stay current with advancements in AI and apply emerging technologies to robotics challenges.

• Improve performance metrics for perception accuracy, task planning, and model training efficiency.

• Utilize vision language models to expand perception capabilities for new object types.

• Apply model-based and model-free reinforcement learning to generate optimal task plans.

• Collaborate with colleagues to expand team expertise in robotics and AI.

Requirements:

• Graduate degree (PhD preferred) in robotics, AI, or a related field.

• Proven research and innovation track record with relevant publications.

• Broad knowledge of robotics and AI technologies with deep expertise in at least one area: supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning, robotic task planning, bin packing, foundation models, VLMs, or perception models.

• Hands-on experience applying AI to real-world robots (manipulation or autonomous vehicles).

• Eagerness to solve open problems where off-the-shelf solutions may not apply.
