Head of AI & Robotics
Location: Silicon Valley, California, USA
UnitX is building the world’s best robotics product to accelerate human productivity in manufacturing. Since inception, UnitX has shipped 1,000+ mission-critical systems across 150+ leading manufacturers’ production lines, inspecting $2.8B worth of products annually with its AI inspection systems.
As the Head of AI & Robotics, you’ll lead a cross-functional team of software, hardware, and ML engineers to shape strategy and build next-generation AI robotics products. This role blends leadership, vision, and hands-on technical expertise to deploy real-world solutions that transform manufacturing at scale.
Responsibilities:

Own and drive the AI & Robotics roadmap from R&D to deployment.

Lead development of AI models for vision, control, and decision-making.

Architect real-time perception, manipulation, and motion planning systems.

Build modular AI components scalable across robotic platforms.
-
Define engineering best practices for data pipelines and model validation.
-
Partner across teams to deliver reliable, production-ready systems.

Stay ahead of cutting-edge research in robotics and AI.
-
Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performance team.
Requirements:

8+ years in AI, robotics, or related domains, with 4+ years in leadership.

Proven track record shipping AI-powered robotic systems.
-
Expertise in computer vision, reinforcement learning, motion planning, or control.

Skilled with PyTorch/TensorFlow, ROS2/DDS, and simulation tools (Isaac Sim, Gazebo).
-
Strong integration knowledge across AI, firmware, and mechanical systems.
-
PhD or MS in Robotics, CS, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have:

Industrial automation or factory experience.
-
Real-time systems, sensor calibration, and hardware expertise.
