Job Description

Netflix is seeking a senior engineering leader to build and scale the GenAI Sandbox and Tooling team within its AI Foundations organization. This team accelerates experimentation and internal adoption of large language models by building sandbox environments, agentic systems, and high-fidelity internal demos that expose Netflix’s in-house “Member LLM” for hands-on exploration.

This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, generative AI application patterns, and foundation model development. While other AI Foundations teams focus on model training and evaluation, this team bridges research and application by enabling rapid prototyping and internal experimentation without full production overhead.

You will lead with a player-coach mindset, providing architectural direction and roadmap ownership while remaining hands-on in building prototypes, APIs, and internal-facing UIs. The role involves developing sandbox infrastructure that allows teams to qualitatively compare in-house models with frontier models, experiment with agentic architectures, and evaluate integration patterns for downstream productization.

Key responsibilities include leading rapid iteration cycles for agentic systems, partnering closely with foundation model teams for shadow testing and signal gathering, and creating polished demos that help leadership intuitively understand evolving model capabilities. You will collaborate cross-functionally to graduate successful prototypes into production experiments and member-facing experiences.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in LLM application patterns, prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, tool use, and systems design. Strong full-stack engineering capability, leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive internal tools are essential.

This is a remote, full-time role within the United States and offers one of the highest compensation bands at Netflix for senior AI leadership positions.
